Sifu Peggy - Tai Chi & Women's Self Defense Instructor
Sifu Peggy has been involved in Chinese martial arts for over 50 years. Her Martial Arts training started at the age of 9, under the direction of her father, a well- known & respected figure in the Chinese Martial Arts community, Paatje Richard Kudding Sr, who was then the founder and Head Instructor of the Flying Dragon Institute. In the early 80" Paatje Kudding moved to Alberta,where he is still currently teaching the art of Indonesian Penjat Silat. Sifu Peggy wanted to pursue her studies in traditional Kung Fu, and was blessed to find and become a student under Grandmaster Doc Fai Wong, President & founder the Plum Blossom Federation in San Francisco, CA. Grandmaster Doc Fai Wong is well known around the world for his teachings in Choy Li Fut Kung Fu & Yang style Tai Chi Chuan. There are currently well over 400+ schools under the Plum Blossom Federation umbrella.
Sifu Peggy has been teaching for over 35 years, She taught Kung Fu & Tai Chi classes at various Community Centers and also facilitated After School Kung Fu Classes at various elementary schools, while continuing to work as a Palliative Care Nurse. She also held a position as a Volunteer & Community Education Development Coordinator with Hospice & Palliative Care MB., In July of 2010, with the help of her students & assistant Instructors, she realized her dream to open her own Martial Arts school. She continued to be the Director and Head Instructor of the successful Winnipeg Plum Blossom Martial Arts Academy until April 2017 when she sold the school and moved to Airdrie,Alberta to be closer to family.
Sifu Peggy was instrumental in developing and teaching the now very popular Women's Self Defense Program in the late 90"s, She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and skills in promoting the importance of Self Defense & Awareness for women of all ages. Sifu Peggy has facilitated numerous successful Self Defense retreats, seminars & workshops on the topics of Awareness, Boundaries and practical Self Defense skills. This program has been presented to women of all ages, in many different workplaces and organizations both in Winnipeg and abroad.
Sifu Peggy has coordinated & hosted many special Martial Arts community events, such as the very successful Annual for Kids only Martial Arts Challenge (Winnipeg, MB), which for 10+years, brought together hundreds of kids & parents from various other Martial Arts schools. This fun Martial Arts Challenge, provided a supportive, friendly & positive environment for kids. This event-built unity and camaraderie among all the young martial artists & parents in attendance. This still shines through, to provide our future leaders with a deepened respect and understanding of their arts.
Sifu Peggy continues to enjoy facilitating the many requests from communities and abroad, for her popular interactive, and fun
Tai Chi & Women's Self Defense workshops and seminars. Numerous businesses, social organizations, retirement facilities
and middle/high schools, have begun implementing Tai Chi as part of healthy, self- care for their staff in-service & retreats..
She leads by example, and has shown numerous groups of people that you can start exercise at any age, and you should view this as a investment in your health!
As the Senior Instructor of the new Plum Blossom Tai Chi Airdrie, Alberta, her focus is overseeing the continued growth of the students that attend her small sized & quality instruction driven classes, She is constantly planning, developing and improving the program curriculum content, and teaching weekly Tai Chi & Women's Self Defense, programs, while always continuing her own earnest study of the Yang Tai Chi & Choy Li Fut Kung Fu system under the direction of Grandmaster Doc Fai Wong,
